Sarah Izat, a 26-year-old law student and police officer in Rotterdam, is fighting to wear her hijab with her uniform. Despite the police’s neutrality policy, which prohibits it, Sarah believes the police should reflect society's diversity. She owns over fifty hijabs and advocates for Muslims, especially women, to have equal opportunities in all professions. She challenges the stereotype of Muslim women as oppressed and shows that they can be ambitious and strong.
In my photography, I aimed to capture Sarah’s determination and resilience. I wanted to highlight her commitment to breaking barriers and advocating for diversity in the workforce.
